Nach dem leicht stabilisierten Dienstag mit 5.984 neuen Koronafällen und 58 Todesfällen stiegen die Zahlen am Mittwoch innerhalb von 24 Stunden dramatisch an. Trauriges Ergebnis: Mehr als 2.000 Menschen sind bereits in der Koronakrise in Österreich gestorben. Darüber hinaus erholten sich 5.944 Menschen innerhalb von 24 Stunden von ihrer Krankheit – das sind weniger als neu Kranke. Derzeit werden 3.910 Menschen mit Koronakrankheiten auf normalen Stationen behandelt, 43 mehr als am Tag zuvor. Die Auslastung der Intensivbetten stieg 
ebenfalls um 24 Fälle und wurde am Mittwoch bei 682 Personen eingestellt. Die schrumpfende Anzahl von Betten in Krankenhäusern ist ebenfalls dramatisch erkennbar: Die Anzahl der für bestätigte Koronafälle noch verfügbaren Intensivbetten ging um 261 auf 508 und die auf normalen Stationen um 1.431 auf 3.534 zurück. In Tirol gibt es beispielsweise nur sieben 
8Intensivstationen, im Burgenland zwölf oder in Voralberg 16 und Oberösterreich 17. Pflegebetten außerhalb von Krankenhäusern gibt es nur in Kärnten, Salzburg, der Steiermark und Wien. Die Neuinfektionen seit dem letzten Bericht verteilen sich wie folgt auf die Bundesländer Österreich:
Burgenland: 171, Kärnten: 438 Niederösterreich: 1.003, Oberösterreich: 1.700, Salzburg: 637, Steiermark: 998, Tirol: 711, Vorarlberg: 218, Wien: 1.215. Über 2.000 Todesfälle in Österreich.
Insgesamt wurden 2.754.494 Koronatests durchgeführt und 221.470 bestätigte Koronafälle gefunden. Insgesamt haben sich 142.431 Menschen erholt. Die aktuellen Zahlen stimmen mit den Prognosen von Gesundheitsminister Rudi Anschober überein. Der Minister hatte angegeben, dass seine Prognosemodelle ab Mitte der ersten Sperrwoche täglich rund 7.000 Neuinfektionen erwarten würden.

After the slightly stabilized Tuesday with 5,984 new corona cases and 58 deaths, the numbers rose dramatically within 24 hours on Wednesday. Sad result: more than 2,000 people have already died in the corona crisis in Austria. In addition, 5,944 people recovered from their illness within 24 hours – that is fewer than were newly ill. 3,910 people with corona diseases are currently being treated in normal wards, 43 more than the day before.
