Die früheren Präsidiumsmitglieder Otto Pendl (SPÖ) und Michael Hammer (ÖVP) wurden gestern Abend bei ihrer letzten Sitzung adoptiert, wobei Hammer das Präsidium nur verließ und als Mitglied in der Kommission blieb. In seiner Abschiedsrede forderte Pendl, dass „der Sache statt der Parteipolitik“ künftig im Interesse der Soldaten und Österreichs Vorrang eingeräumt wird. Genau deshalb ist der Ruf der Bundeswehrkommission international sehr gut. In Bezug auf internationale Missionen forderte Pendl eine Klärung, wer für Beschwerden verantwortlich sein sollte. Die parlamentarische Bundeswehrkommission erhält zwei neue Vorsitzende. Der Abgeordnete Friedrich Ofenauer wechselt in das Präsidium der ÖVP und Robert Laimer in die SPÖ. Der derzeitige amtierende Vorsitzende des Ausschusses, Reinhard Eugen Bösch (FPÖ), bleibt das dritte Mitglied des Ausschusses. Die drei Vorsitzenden der Kommission werden heute im Hauptausschuss des Nationalrates gewählt und morgen vom Plenum bestätigt. Die parlamentarische Streitkräftekommission erhält Beschwerden von Soldaten oder Wehrpflichtigen und prüft diese. Es besteht aus Mitgliedern, die vom Nationalrat gewählt und von den Parteien delegiert werden, und ist im Verteidigungsministerium verankert. Die parlamentarische Streitkräftekommission leitete 2019 insgesamt 287 Beschwerdeverfahren ein. Die meisten Beschwerden (40 Prozent) stammten von Unteroffizieren und (41 Prozent) betrafen Ausbildung und offizielle Operationen. Die Amtszeit der Kommission beträgt sechs Jahre. Was 1955 als Beschwerdekommission für militärische Angelegenheiten begann, ist heute als parlamentarische Streitkräftekommission im militärischen Alltag als demokratisches Kontroll- und Kontrollgremium präsent.

The previous presidium members Otto Pendl (SPÖ) and Michael Hammer (ÖVP) were adopted at their last meeting yesterday evening, with Hammer only leaving the presidium and remaining on the commission as a member. In his farewell speech, Pendl called for “the cause instead of party politics” to be given priority in the future in the interests of the soldiers and Austria. This is precisely why the reputation of the Federal Army Commission is very good internationally. With regard to international missions, Pendl called for clarification as to who should be responsible for complaints. The Parliamentary Federal Army Commission gets two new chairmen. The Parliamentary Armed Forces Commission receives complaints from soldiers or conscripts and examines them. It consists of members elected by the National Council and delegated by the parties and is anchored in the Ministry of Defense. The Parliamentary Armed Forces Commission initiated a total of 287 complaint procedures in 2019. Most of the complaints (40 percent) came from NCOs and (41 percent) related to training and official operations.The term of office of the commission lasts six years. What began in 1955 as a complaints commission in military affairs is now present as the Parliamentary Armed Forces Commission in everyday military life as a democratic checking and control body.
