Das Gesundheitsministerium hat am Donnerstag, dem 19. November, einen Antrag der österreichischen Apothekerkammer genehmigt, die Durchführung von Antigentests in Apotheken im ganzen Land zuzulassen. Die Tests sind „sofort verfügbar“, sofern die Apotheke eine Reihe von Anforderungen erfüllt, die von Gesundheitsbehörden festgelegt wurden. Die Tests kosten zwischen 25 und 40 Euro. Während die Tests für alle verfügbar sind, muss ein Termin vereinbart werden und die Person, die den Test durchführt, muss beschwerdefrei sein. Um die Tests abgeben zu können, müssen sich Apotheker bei der Kammer registrieren lassen und eine Schulung zur Verabreichung eines Rachenabstrichs abgeschlossen haben. Darüber hinaus muss sich der Bereich, in dem die Tests durchgeführt werden, in einem räumlich anderen Bereich befinden als der übliche Kundenverkehr in der Apotheke. In jedem Bundesland wurden mehrere Apotheken registriert. Es gibt jedoch noch kein staatliches oder landesweites Register, für das Apotheken Tests anbieten. Im Gegensatz zu PCR-Tests können Antigentests in weniger als einer Stunde ein Ergebnis liefern. Sie sind jedoch weniger genau, da sie Oberflächenproteine von Covid-19-Partikeln messen. Dies bedeutet, dass sie am effektivsten für Menschen sind, die hoch infektiös sind – d. H. Mit einer hohen Viruslast. Dies bedeutet, dass im Gegensatz zu PCR-Tests die Möglichkeit besteht, dass positive Personen fälschlicherweise ein negatives Testergebnis erhalten. Die Vorteile dieser Methode sind, dass sie schneller und kostengünstiger zu einem Ergebnis führen – eine Auswertung im Labor ist nicht erforderlich, wie dies bei Standardtests (PCR) der Fall ist. Sie sind daher besonders effektiv für hochinfektiöse Personen. Sie geben jedoch keine hundertprozentige Sicherheit – infizierte Menschen ohne Symptome könnten sich mit einem falsch negativen Ergebnis falsch fühlen. Die Ärztekammer sprach sich ebenfalls für eine Genehmigung aus. Prüfung und Klärung gehören nicht in die Hände von Laien. Das Testen von Patienten in Apotheken ist unverantwortlich.

The Ministry of Health on Thursday, November 19th approved a request from the Austrian Chamber of Pharmacists to allow for antigen tests to be carried out in pharmacies across the country. The tests are “available immediately”, provided the pharmacy has met a set of requirements laid out by health officials. The tests will cost between €25 and €40. While the tests will be available to everyone, an appointment will need to be made and the person taking the test must be symptom free. In order to be allowed to dispense the tests, pharmacists will be required to register with the Chamber and have completed training on how to administer a throat swab. In addition, the area in which the tests are taken must be in a spatially different area to where the usual customer traffic arrives in the pharmacy. Several pharmacies have been registered in each federal state, however there is as yet no state or nationwide register set up for which pharmacies are offering tests.Unlike PCR tests, antigen tests can provide a result in less than an hour. However, they are less accurate as they measure surface proteins of Covid-19 particles.This means that they are most effective for people who are highly infectious – i.e. with a high viral load. This means that unlike PCR tests there is the possibility that positive people may falsely receive a negative test result. The pharmacists are likely to be large. “At the moment, reports are constantly coming in,” says the Chamber of Pharmacists. Several pharmacies are already registered in each federal state that are already offering the tests or want to start soon.
