The second anniversary of Ute Bock’s death:

Report: Muhammad Amir Siddique Vienna Austria.

At the district council meeting in Favoriten, a multi-party proposal from the SPÖ, NEOS and Greens was accepted with a large majority. Shortly before the second anniversary of Ute Bock’s death, it is now clear: A path will remember the refugee worker in Favoriten. Specifically, it is about a path near the new buildings at the Eisring Süd.
The route between Windtenstrasse 10 and Gußriegelstrasse 40 will be named after Ute Bock after the completion of the buildings at Eisring Süd, NEOS reported in a broadcast. Favorites was the obvious place for the street to be named. Because the educator, refugee helper and human rights activist Ute Bock was head of the journeyman’s home of the city of Vienna in the Zohmanngasse in the district for decades. In 2000 she retired and volunteered to look after refugees and asylum seekers. She has received numerous awards for her social commitment with the Bruno Kreisky Prize for Services to Human Rights, the Dr. Karl Renner Prize, the Austrian Red Cross Prize and many others. After the purchase of the former journeyman’s home in Zohmanngasse by a private foundation from the City of Vienna, it was renovated and made available to the Ute Bock association as a dormitory (Ute-Bock-Haus). Ute Bock lived here in a small apartment until her death on January 19th, 2018. As early as 2018 we wanted to anchor Ute Bock’s name in the streets of Favoriten, after all, the center of her life was here. We are very pleased that we succeeded in doing this with a joint application with the SPÖ and the Greens, which also received an overwhelming majority at the district representative meeting, ”said Christine Hahn, chairwoman of the NEOS Favoriten club.
