Ausgangspunkt der “Lohnpyramide” ist das Einkommen der Mitglieder des Nationalrates. Sie erhalten für das kommende Jahr 9.228 Euro pro Monat brutto – 136 Euro mehr als in diesem Jahr, die Lercher verlieren würde, wenn er dies vorschlägt. Basierend auf ihren Gehältern berechnet das System, das 1997 nach mehreren Gehaltsskandalen festgelegt wurde, auch die Gehälter anderer Politiker. Die Gehälter der Politiker werden im nächsten Jahr um 1,5 Prozent erhöht. Da der Nationalrat diese Woche keinen anderen Beschluss gefasst hat, wird die Erhöhung gemäß der Lohnpyramide durchgeführt. SPÖ-Mandat Max Lercher missfällt das. Er möchte, dass die Gehälter der Politiker eingefroren werden und zusätzlich ein solidarischer Beitrag zur Politik geleistet wird. “Angesichts von Kurzarbeit und Arbeitslosigkeit ist es selbstverständlich, dass auch die politischen Vertreter des Volkes einen fairen Beitrag leisten”, sagte Lercher gegenüber der APA. Er will auch eine Solidaritätssteuer als Andenken. Ein positives Beispiel ist die Steiria SPÖ. Es gibt seit langem eine allgemeine Solidaritätssteuer für alle Spitzenbeamten, d. H. Mitglieder des Nationalrates, Regierungsmitglieder und Mitglieder des Landtags. Nationalratspräsident Wolfgang Sobotka (ÖVP) erhält 18.999 Euro (plus 281). Die Clubvertreter der vier Parteien haben Anspruch auf 15.380 Euro. Das sind 227 Euro mehr im Monat, auf die die SPÖ-Fraktion und Parteivorsitzende Pamela Rendi-Wagner nach Lerchers Vorschlag verzichten müsste. An der Spitze steht Bundespräsident Alexander Van der Bellen mit 25.332 Euro (plus 374 Euro) vor Bundeskanzler Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) mit 22.618 Euro pro Monat (plus 334 Euro) und Vizekanzler Werner Kogler (Grüne) mit 19.904 Euro (plus 294 Euro). Die Landesgouverneure erhalten maximal 18.456 Euro (plus 273 Euro), wobei das Bezügebbegrenzungsgesetz nur Obergrenzen für Landespolitiker festlegt, die ebenfalls unterschritten werden können.
