Finanzminister Blümel legt im mutmaßlichen Spendenfall eine eidesstattliche Erklärung vor. Nach dieser Erklärung hat das Glücksspielunternehmen Novomatic “als Gegenleistung für politische Maßnahmen” keine Spenden an die ÖVP oder die mit der ÖVP verbundenen Verbände geleistet. Blümel eindeutig: “Jeder, der etwas anderes behauptet, wird von mir verklagt. Seit Blümel Anfang dieser Woche aus Medienberichten erfahren hat, dass er beschuldigt wurde, von der Geschäfts- und Korruptionsstaatsanwaltschaft in den Casinos beschuldigt worden zu sein, haben die Dinge Fahrt aufgenommen Einerseits gipfelte die Sache am Donnerstag in einer Hausdurchsuchung in Blümel, andererseits fordert die Opposition den Rücktritt des Finanzministers, und SPÖ, FPÖ und Neos haben gemeinsam eine Sondersitzung des Nationalen beantragt Rat für Dienstag nächste Woche. Der Blues will, dass Bundespräsident Alexander Van der Bellen die gesamte Regierung entlässt. Die Ermittler richteten sich gegen Blümel wegen einer SMS des damaligen Novomatic-Chefs Harald Neumann, der Blümel fragte – er war damals der ÖVP Chef in Wien – für einen Termin beim ÖVP-Chef Sebastian Kurz – damals Außenminister. Novomatic hatte Probleme in Italien, laut Blümel ist es das “tägliche Brot des Außenministeriums” Angelegenheiten “, um Unternehmen beim Umgang mit ausländischen Behörden zu helfen. Blümel bat daraufhin den damaligen Generalsekretär des Finanzministeriums, Thomas Schmid, Neumann zurückzurufen. Es wurde nicht festgestellt, ob das Finanzministerium oder das Außenministerium tatsächlich für Novomatic gearbeitet haben. Es ist merkwürdig, warum der Überfall auf Blümel auf Betreiben der WKStA stattgefunden hat – denn der Eintrag “Short” ist im Kalender des Novomatic-Besitzers für den 27. Juli 2017 zu finden. Die Annahme, dass es sich um ÖVP-Chef Kurz handelte, war jedoch falsch das Novomatic-Aufsichtsratsmitglied Martina Kurz. Graf ließ am Freitag durch seinen Anwalt Christopher Cabinet wissen, dass er weder mit Kurz noch mit Blümel Kontakt gehabt hatte. Nach Angaben des Kabinetts hat die WKStA ihn oder Graf nicht nach dem Datum gefragt. Diese Tatsache machte den Vorsitzenden des ÖVP-Clubs, August Wöginger, mürrisch. “Die Tatsache, dass ein Mitglied des Regierungshauses aufgrund einer Namensverwechslung in einem Kalendereintrag durchsucht wurde, zeigt, dass die Arbeit nicht sehr gewissenhaft war”, sagte er gegenüber der WKStA. Diese Art der Verwirrung “mit schwerwiegenden Folgen regt zum Nachdenken an”. Wöginger erinnerte übrigens wie Verfassungsministerin Karoline Edtstadler an das Verhalten anderer beschuldigter Politiker. Für Blümel muss derselbe Standard gelten wie für Gouverneur Peter Kaiser (Top Team Affair), Ex-Kanzler Werner Faymann und Ex-Minister Josef Ostermayer (SPÖ) (beide Werbeangelegenheit). Sie alle übten ihre Aufgaben weiter aus und das Verfahren wurde eingestellt. Die Statistiken zeigen, dass die Mehrheit der gemeldeten Personen unschuldig ist: „Seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 2009 hat die WKStA inzwischen rund 40.000 Menschen als Verdächtige aufgeführt. Am Ende war nur ein Prozent von ihnen schuldig. „Die Objektivität des Verfahrens sollte nicht durch Vorurteile in den Medien gefährdet werden, und das Prinzip der Unschuldsvermutung sollte laut Edtstadler zu einer leeren Phrase werden. Die Vorsitzende des Grünen Clubs, Sigrid Maurer, rief vorzeitig zum Rücktritt auf, forderte Blümel jedoch auf, “alle Fakten sofort auf den Tisch zu legen”.
