Bundeskanzler Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) hat am Donnerstag die für die APA zu hohen Erwartungen gebremst: Die Situation sei “sehr volatil”, er betonte, man müsse weiterhin “äußerst vorsichtig vorgehen”. Derzeit gibt es in Österreich rund 2.000 Neuinfektionen pro Tag und die Inzidenz von sieben Tagen liegt bei rund 150, womit sie bei Neuinfektionen innerhalb der EU im oberen Drittel liegen, erklärte Kurz. “Das bedeutet, dass die Sperrung, der Verzicht, die Maßnahmen natürlich ihre Wirkung gezeigt haben”, sagte der Kanzler. Dennoch muss gesagt werden, dass die Situation äußerst volatil ist “, betonte Kurz. Er verwies auf zahlreiche Mutationen des Virus, die britische Variante sei beispielsweise viel ansteckender und daher eine “massive Herausforderung”. Die britische Variante ist in vielen EU-Ländern bereits in großem Umfang aufgetaucht. “Wir müssen daher weiterhin äußerst vorsichtig vorgehen, um nicht zu zerstören, was wir verdient haben”, erklärte Kurz. Die Kanzlerin hat noch keine Einzelheiten zu den Eröffnungsschritten bekannt gegeben. Zuletzt befürwortete der Bundesrettungskommandant des Roten Kreuzes, Gerry Foitik, eindeutig das Tragen einer FFP2-Maske anstelle eines einfachen Mund- und Nasenschutzes und mehr Abstand.
