Ein Großbrand im Zentrum von Perchtoldsdorf (Bezirk Mödling) verursachte am Montagnachmittag enorme Sachschäden. Das Feuer brach in einem Hotel direkt neben der Polizeistation aus. Die Ursache des Brandes soll heute, Dienstag, untersucht werden. Ein Polizist bemerkte das Feuer im Nachbargebäude gegen 16.30 Uhr. und alarmierte die Feuerwehr, und viele Bewohner machten Notrufe – die Rauchsäule über Perchtoldsdorf war nicht zu übersehen. Mehr als hundert Feuerwehrleute zogen aus – mehr dazu bei einem Großbrand im Zentrum von Perchtoldsdorf. Die Flammen breiteten sich auch auf die Dachkonstruktion der Polizeistation aus, Waffen und Munition wurden laut einem Polizeisprecher genauso rechtzeitig in Sicherheit gebracht wie Akten. Das Nebengebäude selbst ist ein Hotel. Die Löscharbeiten im dicht bebauten Stadtzentrum erwiesen sich als schwierig, das Stadtzentrum wurde großflächig abgesperrt und gegen 20 Uhr. “Feuer aus” wurde schließlich gegeben. Kurz nach Mitternacht konnte die Feuerwehr ihren Betrieb einstellen, sagte Franz Resperger, Sprecher des staatlichen Feuerwehrkommandos, bis dahin mussten immer wieder aufflammende Glutentaschen gelöscht werden. Außerdem musste das Dach der Polizeistation teilweise entfernt werden. “Die Feuerwehr wurde von einem Statiker beauftragt, Teile der verbleibenden Dachziegel zu entfernen, um eine einseitige Gewichtsbelastung und damit einen Zusammenbruch der Dachkonstruktion zu verhindern. Es gibt keine Verletzungen, aber der Sachschaden ist wahrscheinlich enorm, die Polizeistation ist vorübergehend unbrauchbar, die Beamten ziehen auf den benachbarten Posten in Brunn am Gebirge, teilte die Staatspolizei in einer Sendung mit. Brandermittler werden klären, warum das Feuer tagsüber ausgebrochen ist. Auf jeden Fall das Feuer hätte aus einem Schuppen im Hotel starten sollen.
