Das Ende der Koronasperre im Einzelhandel und bei körperfreundlichen Dienstleistern hat zu einem leichten Rückgang der Arbeitslosigkeit geführt. Derzeit sind 525.992 Menschen arbeitslos oder in Ausbildung, rund 4.500 weniger als in der Vorwoche, wie das Arbeitsministerium am Dienstag bekannt gab. Der massive wirtschaftliche Einbruch hält jedoch an. Nach Wifo-Berechnungen lag die Entwicklung des Bruttoinlandsprodukts fast 14 Prozent unter dem Vorjahresniveau. Für die Berechnung des wöchentlichen Wirtschaftsindex verwendet das Economic Research Institute (Wifo) 14 Datenquellen, darunter Lkw-Kilometerstand, Stromverbrauch, Arbeitslosenzahlen und Zahlungsvorgangsdaten. Die harte Corona-Sperre kostet derzeit rund eine Milliarde Euro Mehrwert pro Woche, sagte Finanzminister Gernot Blümel (ÖVP) auf einer Pressekonferenz über Wifo-Daten. Ziel muss es sein, die Anzahl der Infektionen so gering wie möglich zu halten. Aufgrund des koronabezogenen Tourismusverbots konzentriert sich Österreich laut Wifo derzeit auf rund 3,5 Prozent der gesamten Wirtschaftsleistung pro Woche im Bereich Unterkunft und GWifionomie. Industrie, Bau und Export sind eine positive Unterstützung für die Binnenwirtschaft. Aufgrund der Koronakrise sind die Arbeitslosen- und Kurzzeitarbeitszahlen immer noch auf einem extrem hohen Niveau. Derzeit arbeiten rund 450.000 Menschen in Kurzzeitarbeit, verglichen mit knapp 459.000 in der Vorwoche.
